| As in the past, The Goddess weekend began with a welcoming ceremony catered by the Manhattan Restaurant. This year's attendees came from all parts of the country. After introductions, each attendee received gifts befitting a Stitching Goddess as well as snack baskets to take back to their rooms. Emcee and co-host, David McCaskill introduced the teachers and attendees as Bernice presented their gifts |
| Thursday:
While the waiter took care of the attendees Maria and Becky, our musician, Jerry Abernathy (Bernice’s husband), played music for everyone’s enjoyment. One of our original Goddesses, Liz Lennert, was serenaded by our waiter singing an aria from an Italian. Liz become a little embarrassed when he decided to sing directly to her. Another table being serenaded and sitting with his wife is Robert Young who was one of the 5 attending husbands. No, the husbands didn’t take classes, but they kept themselves busy during the day with trips to the zoo, sailing lessons or just sightseeing around San Diego. In the center of this table is Libby Sturdy, one of our teachers, sitting next to her husband David. Another view of the table above with David on his knees looking for the left-over Goddess cookies which are custom decorated for everyone. Here David introduces Gay Ann Rogers, AKA know as “The Albatross Around His Neck” For four years Gay Ann has attempted to win the Ms. Congeniality award. She has gone to extremes, even trying to stuff the ballot box, but to no avail. This year she decided that David would give in if she professed her undying love and devotion. “The Albatross Around His Neck” became the position Gay Ann assumed every time she was around David. Always a lady and a pleasure to introduce, Libby Sturdy. It looks like David’s doing a magic trick, but he’s actually holding the bracelet given to each Goddess. Liz and Ginger picked up their goody baskets of snacks. Julie Sarris is welcomed as a first time attendee by David with Bernice Abernathy (co-host) in the background. |
